Bear being born...!

Hello everyone :)

Just an update on my current bear. Well, my intention was to alter a pattern drastically and sell it as one of my own Keli-B Bears but I was worried about copyright. I didnt want to sell the bear as my own for it to resemble the original pattern as this isnt fair to the original artist. Soooo...I jumped in the deep end and have completely designed my own bear. I used the patterns I have as guides to the size of each body bit and so far all is going well :)

The legs and foot pads are sewn in and I have started on the head. I will get the rest finished tomorrow but I have to wait to do the body because I am waiting for my first batch of tush tags to arrive! Ill get pics up of them when they arrive. Also waiting for the swing tags to come as well, nervous about those too!!!

I will get a picture of the bears head up as I am going along so you can see the progression which will be nice. More updates will follow soon.

In the rest of the bear world, I attended a Kaycee bear signing event in Loughborough this weekend. It was fantastic and I came home with a beautiful pink bunny called Blossom (pictured!). I then went over to Trentham with two friends and we walked around the shopping village to find a food outlet to host the Charlie Bear gathering in April. We have now settled on the Premier Inn on site so that will be sorted soon!

It is almost February, so it will be time for Charlie Bears on QVC on the 14th...and then...HUGGLETS!

Taking the next step!

I am taking the next step in my bear making! I am using the same pattern as my pink bear (now named Muffy) but am altering it drastically. Arms, body, face, ears...possibly the legs! So watch this space for my first Keli-B Bear!!! Just need to wait ever so patiently for the materials to arrive...

Little unamed bear

Hello!

Here is my latest bear. She doesnt have a name but I was thinking perhaps Ella. She is made from a pattern from Christie Bears and she is absolutely adorable! Im really pleased with her technically and I now feel confident to start altering patterns so my next bear will be based on this pattern :)

The start of 2011 is very busy for me in the bear world. I am off to a Kaycee Bear signing event next weekend where I will purchase Blossom - a pink rabbit! After that I am off to Trentham and One More Bear the bear shop to start sorting out the food place for our Charlie Bear Gathering Event. In February, it is QVC for Charlie bears, the launch of their new collection and then I am off to Hugglets at the end of February. Busy busy busy! And expensive!!!

Thank you for taking the time to look at my newest bear :)

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

It is now 2011 which means lots of time for bear making...well, not at the moment. I've just moved out of my parents and into a flat with my boyfriend - but my bear making bits and bobs are still at home :( I will collect them next week however and hopefully I will have my pink bear finished soon!

So watch this space!

Christmas Time

Hello,

It is now only a few days until christmas. So I thought I would bring you a couple of pictures of some bears :P

Firstly, I would like to introduce you to Eve. I made her myself using a pattern from Christie bears and I am SO proud of her. She was made for a friend for his mum for christmas. I was so sad seeing her leave but I know she will be well loved. She is my third bear so far and I am SO pleased :)

As you know - on my last post - I won a Charlie bear from QVC. Almost three weeks later and he has arrived. His box was battered and bruised but Jumbo is fine - he just needs a good brush. He has his foot pads signed - One by Will and the other by Charlie - the owners of Charlie Bears :). Here is a piccie of him looking handsome :)

Charlie Bears were on QVC again on the 17th December and the two shows were a success. I think I may have been quite ill though...I didn't buy a bear! Im saving my money for my pre-ordered bears and for fairs/signings in the new year :)

I probably wont post before christmas - but have a wonderful christmas and a fantastic new year :)

Excitement!

Well, these last couple of weeks have been rather exciting! After my week of bears and QVC, I have settled down to doing some bear making.

A friend has asked me to make a bear for his mum. Although Im not designing yet, Im still making her a bear using a pattern (so I'm only charging for materials.) I am getting lots of practice and have stuffed and sewn the PERFECT legs. The arms are less so, but its good practice! Today I will be stuffing the head and hope to finish the bear this week. Meanwhile, my other pink bear is lying waiting for me to finish her.

My Melody bear from QVC arrived. She is beautiful - a very wobbly bear with a sweet expression. She is rather weighty and bigger than I originally thought! I got some wonderful news last week as well. I entered a competition on QVC to win a signed charlie bear. QVC announced the winner - but they also announced the wrong answer to the question. After people complained, they re-drew the competition and guess who won! ME!!!! The bear hasn't arrived yet :( But I hope he will be here very soon and I will get a piccie up!!!

Organisation is underway for the Charlie Bear Gathering 2011 being held on April 9th at Trentham in Stoke. We had a wonderful day in Stafford in September and I made a lot of good friends so it will be nice to see them again AND meet new people :)

It is the kaycee bear signing in York today at stonegate teddies. I am unable to go but have reserved a beautiful Josie rabbit and cannot wait to get her tomorrow when I pick her up from Northampton.

Speaking of Northampton, I am moving there in a few weeks. So Keli-B bears will have a new base! I might actually have somewhere to make my bears now instead of using the flimsy kitchen table! Lol! I just don't know how I am going to get 90 bears into that flat!!! Better than them being contained in a very small room though!

That is all for now. Ill get piccies up of my bear that I am creating - she should be done in the next few days.
Take care

A very bear-ful week!

This week has been fantastic! Full of bears, bears and more bears!

Tuesday (yesterday) brought a whole day of Charlie Bears QVC shows including the TSV, a christmas bear and some more exclusives. I only had enough money to buy one bear (Melody - inspired by Maximilian bear!) but she is beautiful and I cannot wait to recieve her! With all the snow we have had though, the delivery will take a while - but well worth the wait :)

Yesterday, I also embarked on starting a new bear. I am using a 'pink champagne' coloured curly, sparse mohair and it is beautiful! I had some problems finding the nap of the fur but I'm there now. Today, I started on the legs - but the footpads have driven me mad again and after two hours of shouting at my sewing machine (poor thing!) I gave up and will try again with a fresh determination another day :)

Last weekend I went to pick up a bear on pre-order. Snowflake Kaycee bear is now sitting in my hug. She is a christmas limited edition of 100 and is fantastic. I also came away with Bluebell Kaycee bear - a little bluey-white bear. Fantastic =D

That is all there is to report at the moment (I think). Ill give another update on my pink bear soon!
