Christmas Time

Hello,

It is now only a few days until christmas. So I thought I would bring you a couple of pictures of some bears :P

Firstly, I would like to introduce you to Eve. I made her myself using a pattern from Christie bears and I am SO proud of her. She was made for a friend for his mum for christmas. I was so sad seeing her leave but I know she will be well loved. She is my third bear so far and I am SO pleased :)



As you know - on my last post - I won a Charlie bear from QVC. Almost three weeks later and he has arrived. His box was battered and bruised but Jumbo is fine - he just needs a good brush. He has his foot pads signed - One by Will and the other by Charlie - the owners of Charlie Bears :). Here is a piccie of him looking handsome :)

Charlie Bears were on QVC again on the 17th December and the two shows were a success. I think I may have been quite ill though...I didn't buy a bear! Im saving my money for my pre-ordered bears and for fairs/signings in the new year :)

I probably wont post before christmas - but have a wonderful christmas and a fantastic new year :)

Excitement!

Well, these last couple of weeks have been rather exciting! After my week of bears and QVC, I have settled down to doing some bear making.

A friend has asked me to make a bear for his mum. Although Im not designing yet, Im still making her a bear using a pattern (so I'm only charging for materials.) I am getting lots of practice and have stuffed and sewn the PERFECT legs. The arms are less so, but its good practice! Today I will be stuffing the head and hope to finish the bear this week. Meanwhile, my other pink bear is lying waiting for me to finish her.

My Melody bear from QVC arrived. She is beautiful - a very wobbly bear with a sweet expression. She is rather weighty and bigger than I originally thought! I got some wonderful news last week as well. I entered a competition on QVC to win a signed charlie bear. QVC announced the winner - but they also announced the wrong answer to the question. After people complained, they re-drew the competition and guess who won! ME!!!! The bear hasn't arrived yet :( But I hope he will be here very soon and I will get a piccie up!!!

Organisation is underway for the Charlie Bear Gathering 2011 being held on April 9th at Trentham in Stoke. We had a wonderful day in Stafford in September and I made a lot of good friends so it will be nice to see them again AND meet new people :)

It is the kaycee bear signing in York today at stonegate teddies. I am unable to go but have reserved a beautiful Josie rabbit and cannot wait to get her tomorrow when I pick her up from Northampton.

Speaking of Northampton, I am moving there in a few weeks. So Keli-B bears will have a new base! I might actually have somewhere to make my bears now instead of using the flimsy kitchen table! Lol! I just don't know how I am going to get 90 bears into that flat!!! Better than them being contained in a very small room though!

That is all for now. Ill get piccies up of my bear that I am creating - she should be done in the next few days.

A very bear-ful week!

This week has been fantastic! Full of bears, bears and more bears!

Tuesday (yesterday) brought a whole day of Charlie Bears QVC shows including the TSV, a christmas bear and some more exclusives. I only had enough money to buy one bear (Melody - inspired by Maximilian bear!) but she is beautiful and I cannot wait to recieve her! With all the snow we have had though, the delivery will take a while - but well worth the wait :)

Yesterday, I also embarked on starting a new bear. I am using a 'pink champagne' coloured curly, sparse mohair and it is beautiful! I had some problems finding the nap of the fur but I'm there now. Today, I started on the legs - but the footpads have driven me mad again and after two hours of shouting at my sewing machine (poor thing!) I gave up and will try again with a fresh determination another day :)

Last weekend I went to pick up a bear on pre-order. Snowflake Kaycee bear is now sitting in my hug. She is a christmas limited edition of 100 and is fantastic. I also came away with Bluebell Kaycee bear - a little bluey-white bear. Fantastic =D

That is all there is to report at the moment (I think). Ill give another update on my pink bear soon!

Maximillian has arrived!

I am very excited to bring the news that my Maximillian bear has finally arrived!

A beautiful little bear - he is one of the original twelve Charlie bears and has the most beautiful expression. Being older than any of my other bears (except two Isabelle Lee Dogs as part of Charlie bears) he has a very different look - but still has the Charlie bear charm =D

He is in very very good condition and I feel so lucky to have him. He will be constantly hugged! =D Unfortunately Im off to work in half an hour so I will have to leave him for a few hours but then I get him all evening =D

That Tuesday Feeling

Hi everyone,

Its only Tuesday but I feel like it should be Friday! I was in a school today - I was supposed to be in year 3 but was taken into a year 5 classroom, year 2 classroom and finally a year 1 classroom before I started teaching. It was a very hard morning but it is always worthwhile (I am a supply teacher in Primary Schools).

At the weekend I was very very lucky! I started collecting Charlie bears two years ago and ever since the start I have been on the lookout for one of the original twelve - twelve bears which were part of the original collection in 2006. I have seen them on ebay many times but their price always exceeds my limits. Now that I have started my job however, things have changed! I was scouring ebay for fun and found a listing for Maximillian at about £20. So I watched the item and it finally came to the last ten minutes. After constantly refreshing the page I finally bid for him....and at the last moment I thought I was outbid and lost!

I got very upset - this is why i dont normally bid on ebay as I get really high hopes for them to be dashed. But because I had put my maximum bid to £50, I automatically bid higher than the last bidder - and I won Maximillian Charlie Bear for just under £40!!!! I have seen the photo of him - he looks to be in good condition and comes with his tags. He was posted yesterday and I expect him to arrive tomorrow =D

The only thing is I am working all day tomorow in a year 4 class - so I wont get to see him until 4.30! Something to look forwards to though eh?! ;) Ill pop a picture up of Maximillian bear as soon as he arrives.

To fill the gap - here is a picture of my latest Charlie Bear - Honeysuckle. She is part of the mohair 2010 collection limited to 350 (And I have number 2!)

Bears

Good Evening :)

My name is Kelly and this blog is intended for me to talk about bears - bears in the UK and across the world. Although I have only collected artist and manufactured collectors bears for two years, I have always had a passion for cuddly toys and upon stumbling across a Charlie bear in Autumn 2008, my passion grew! I currently own 65 Charlie bears, 14 Kaycee bears and 6 artist bears - most of which are OOAK's.

I have helped organise a bear get together earlier this year to celebrate Charlie bears and some other fabulous bears. I also write a review for a Charlie bear fansite and help to moderate the forum. I have dabbled in bear making myself - I am currently on my third bear although the fur is horrific to handle and so I may move onto another bear and come back to it after more experience. I went on a bear making course in August of this year and have booked to go again for a weekend in March.

Ill be updating my blog with new bears, new collections, fairs, excitement and probably a rant here or there concerning bears on the secondary market.
